Alright men, the schlitz is about to get real. The heat is coming. Below are a few things you can do to help yourself and the team be ready for the battle:
- Make sure your van is ready to rock and repping the company positively.
- Clean it, inside and out
- Organize it
- Get the oil changed
- Check the tire pressures
- Customers notice our vans, our personal appearance, and how prepared we are for the job.
- Get in the habit now of using the On My Way, Start, and Finish buttons in Housecall Pro. It’s company policy. It helps us schedule more efficiently. Etc.
- Have a box of shoe covers in your van for those foul weather days (when you do not want to track mud into a customer’s home).
- Stock your van with the common parts and supplies you need to get the job 100% done on the first visit.
- Avoid the Drive of Shame.
- Avoid having to make multiple trips to a customer’s home.
- The new mini-warehouse at the storage should be stocked soon. A big thanks to Jason for organizing and building out the space – It’s light years better now!
- Make a summer savings plan. Intentionally put aside some of the “extra” money you’ll make in the hot months to help get you through the cold months.
- Complete each job 100%. When you think you are done, step back and look over your work. Walk it through in your head, step by step. Is everything done… and done correctly? Call backs are like the Walk of Shame. They make the company look bad… and you not so swell either. They burn valuable time which we do not have in the summer. Hard truth, but still true.
- There are obviously many things you can do to be prepared. The point is to plan ahead.

The Company Retirement Savings Plan has been updated and is now included in our Company Policy Manual.
(While you’re there, read the Dispatching policy. You’ll notice one bullet point I did not mention above. It is equally important and necessary.)
